AND NOW SOME OPERATIONS NEWS
This Operations Update is provided with support from:
The State of Manufacturing

The PMI Index increased slightly to 61.1% in November.

Production increased but Inventories are still well below healthy levels.

The already astronomical shipping prices are still going up, and it seems that the ports might be responsible. We are glad Santa delivers himself.

And now they have 'sweeper ships' collecting empty containers sitting at the harbor to clear space to ease bottlenecks. Meanwhile, those ships are taking up space loaded with empty containers.
And here are some additional Industry Insights from our contributors at EPE Components:

  • Crystal and oscillator manufacturers continue to raise pricing and extend lead times. Legacy and big case products are being phased out.

  • Murata, TDK & Wuerth are extending lead times beyond 52 weeks.

  • Texas Instruments announced a price increase of 7%.

  • Relay manufacturers Omron, Hongfa & American Zettler are under allocation with backlogs covering the entire production capacity of 2022.

  • On Semi’s capacity is overbooked throughout 2022.

  • Intel/Altera announced a price increase of 5-20%, dependent on the product line.

  • Xilinx is enforcing NCNR (Non-Cancelable, Non-Returnable) for all component sales through 2022. In addition, there will be price increases on all current and future orders.
