Mass beats California for IPOs this year.

The State of Manufacturing

The Manufacturing PMI Index dropped even further in November to 49%, dipping just below the Manufacturing Economy Breakeven Line.

Supplier deliveries are slowing, and inventories are growing.

The initial signs of the expected supply chain Bullwhip effect after the massive raw material shortages are taking place and will likely continue though 2023.

For 2023, the unprecedented shortage of semiconductors may continue, while manufacturers struggle to meet demand –primarily due to capacity issues and ongoing supply chain shortages.

There's no immediate relief for the shortage, as the biggest manufacturers are constructing new semiconductor fabrication plants in the U.S. that will begin production in 2024/2025.

For the first time since 2003, Massachusetts may beat California for IPOs this year. Only nine companies headquartered in California went public during the first three quarters of 2022, while ten Bay State companies have gone public, raising $1.2 billion in their offerings — six times more than their California counterparts.

Meet Sparrow and Proteus, the two Boston-Made robots handling Amazon orders.

Locus Robotics announced $117 million in funding led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and G2 Venture Partners. The Wilmington, Massachusetts-based robot maker plans IPO in the next 18-24 months.

With more than 800 Bitcoin ATMs and 231 blockchain companies, Massachusetts is among the top-five states considered crypto-ready. In Massachusetts, there are 813 Bitcoin ATMs, or nearly 12 per 1,000 people across the state.

Momentum Manufacturing Group, one of the largest metal manufacturers in North America, has announced its entry into the semiconductor market with the acquisition of two Massachusetts companies that support semiconductor manufacturing
